Welcome to our Shul

Come vacation on Cape Cod and enjoy daily Orthodox minyan throughout the summer at our shul, the Beth Israel of Onset Cape Cod Synagogue. Onset’s delightful beaches and charming cottages offers the Orthodox Jewish vacationer an unusual hidden jewel to explore and the original Cape Cod Jewish experience.

Onset is a picturesque Victorian village, with clean, sandy beaches, chartered fishing boats, Canal Cruises, a Vineyard ferry, parades and street fairs in the town center, and, of course, a 4th-of-July fireworks display.

Our little synagogue, founded in the 1940’s, was Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik’s summer Shul for many years. We have a resident Director who runs the Minyan, and reads the Torah on Shabbos, Monday and Thursday. Weekday shachris is at 8:00am and mincha/maariv is at about 20 minutes before sunset at the nearest quarter hour - near 8 pm at Summer start, moving to 7 pm by Labor Day. Friday night services begin roughly 30 minutes before sunset at the nearest quarter hour, 7:30 at Summer start and moving to 7:00pm by Labor Day. Shabbos morning services are at 9:00 am. Davening times are posted on the board outside of the shul. Please do contact us to confirm times when you are visiting.

Onset has a number of places available for long or short stays, some with kitchens, all within 5 or 10 minutes of the Shul and beach. There is an enormous variety of things to do up and down the Cape, for all ages. Download our brochure, and call or write us with any questions.

Cape Cod has miles of wonderful beaches, snug harbors, charming villages, historic sites, aquariums, golf, tennis, shopping, go-karts, baseball, water parks, movies, summer theater, antique shops, bicycle trails, kayaking, fishing, whale watching and so much more. In Onset, you can enjoy all this along with a delightful, appropriate Shabbos experience.
Do visit. You’ll love it. Everyone does.

Summer on Cape Cod. And by all means, Summer in Onset.
